About Duke Ligon
Based in Oklahoma City, attorney Duke Ligon has energy law practice experience spanning diverse aspects of the international and U.S. oil industry. The owner and manager of
Mekusukey Oil Company, LLC, Duke Ligon previously served as general counsel and senior vice president with Devon Energy. His knowledge extends to the electric power, natural gas, and mining and minerals sectors. He is also experienced in environmental law and in alternative energy strategies such as co-generation.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 and was active in the Vietnam conflict. Attaining a rank of captain, he was an intelligence briefer for U.S. military leaders in the Southeast Asia region. He was recognized through the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal, and he received a Bronze Star for his service.
Mr. Ligon has high-level energy policy experience dating back to the mid-1970s. His work includes guiding the U.S. delegation working group in activities related to launching the Brussels-based International Energy Agency. Additional career experience includes service as executive director of Love’s Entrepreneurship Center at Oklahoma City University. He holds a juris doctor from the University of Texas School of Law.
